Three emergency call-outs after shelling, a window-boarding workshop for Ukrainian and international volunteers, work on a dormitory in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and a forum on getting the capital ready for winter — here's a look back at our July.

▪️ Emergency response

Three times over the month we deployed to sites hit by Russian shelling. In Kyiv's Darnytskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, we closed 155 requests in four days, helping residents deal with the aftermath of the attacks.

▪️ Social housing for displaced people

In the village of Stavyshche, Kyiv region, our volunteers carried on with demolition work to prepare the building for reconstruction. Step by step, we're getting it ready for the next stages of the rebuild: across four visits, the team took down 50 partition walls.

▪️ Window-boarding workshop

Mid-month, our team ran a hands-on workshop on boarding up windows after shelling. Two groups took part — Ukrainian and international volunteers.

▪️ Restoring a piece of social infrastructure

In the village of Petrykivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, international volunteers worked alongside professional builders to fit out spaces that will become part of a renovated dormitory.

The plan is to fit out:

• a kitchen;
• common and relaxation rooms;
• a laundry;
• bedrooms and bathrooms.

▪️ "Winter 2026–2027" forum

On 7 July, we brought together representatives of local government, utility companies, homeowners' associations, and civil-society groups to discuss preparing Kyiv for winter. This autumn we'll keep working on the coordination protocols that will keep the city running through the cold season.

▪️ Atlas Festival

Last month, Brave to Rebuild also appeared on the NGO avenue at Kyiv's biggest music festival, Atlas Festival. Anyone who wanted to could drive a screw into a chipboard panel — a small symbol of the idea that rebuilding starts with a single, concrete act.

POKROKOVO has a new page with video guides on boarding up windows: the whole series — covering windows of different types and materials — is now gathered in one place. We've also updated the application templates for building managers to make submitting paperwork simpler, and added a section for owners of private homes.
