Introducing POKROKOVO — an Online Guide for Kyiv Residents Affected by Shelling

On 4 May, at the Media Center in Kyiv, we launched POKROKOVO (pokrokovo.in.ua) — an online guide for residents and building managers whose homes have been damaged by shelling.

After a strike, people face dozens of questions all at once: who to call, how to document the damage, what paperwork to file, where to get materials to temporarily seal windows and doors, and how to apply for compensation through the "eVidnovlennia" (eRecovery) programme.

POKROKOVO guides you through the whole journey, from the first steps after a strike to the longer recovery: finding contacts for services and volunteers, using application templates, and understanding what to do — whether you're a resident, a homeowners' association, or a building manager.

As part of the project, we've also produced practical resources, all already available on the site:

  • a guide to temporarily boarding up windows and doors;
  • a workbook for recording measurements;
  • posters for affected sites;
  • a video course and training for utility services.

"POKROKOVO is an answer to something we heard at every single site. People find themselves in a crisis and don't know where to begin. We've pulled the whole process together in one place, so that at the critical moment everything is at hand," says Alona Krytsuk, Director and Co-founder of Brave to Rebuild.

Our thanks to everyone who helped create, launch, and present POKROKOVO: the project team, volunteers, partners, experts, representatives of homeowners' associations, building managers, civil-society groups, local government, and emergency and utility services.

POKROKOVO was created by Brave to Rebuild (the "Brave" Charitable Foundation) with the support of the Askold and Dir Fund, administered by ISAR Ednannia under the project "Strong Civil Society of Ukraine — a Driver of Reform and Democracy," funded by Norway and Sweden. The content of this publication is the responsibility of Brave to Rebuild (the "Brave" Charitable Foundation) and does not reflect the views of the governments of Norway or Sweden, or of ISAR Ednannia.
